Enter the water here for best
access to the reefs
It is best to enter and
leave the water south of the pier.
Be aware of the occasional
current that will run south west and north west.
When the currents run,
they will be pushing you toward the beach, but also south or north.
The first reef begins
at the 2nd lamp post past the
midway shelter on the pier
and runs to the end of the pier. This is safe for snorkelers and
divers. Stay clear of the pier when diving, fisherman may catch
you with their lines and hooks. Diving on fairly rough days is
possible due to the gulf stream current, keeping water clean.
On those days the vis on the second reef would be better. The
water depth will not exceed 23' on 1 or 2nd reef.
You can enter onto the
beach in front of that white sign in the picture, an alley access
is available. The best and most underwater beauty is on the second
reef. To save air you can swim out on top to the second reef then
go down. Your are required to have a dive flag. Lobster can be
taken on both reefs. You see more snook, tarpon, barracuda and
turtles on the first reef. Nurse sharks in the cracks and holes.
The second reef is brilliant with corals, coral heads, reef fish
and sponges. Lobster
